Activities
Middleham Falls Hike & Trafalgar Falls
Easy to Moderate
You will explore the misty mountain trail to Middleham Falls taking in the lush rainforest vegetation along the way. Jaco parrots are occasionally heard or spotted along this trail. The end of the hike becomes a little steeper as you scramble your way down to the waterfall pool for a refreshing splash. Did you know that swimming in waterfalls exposes you to negative ions which are a purification to help counteract stress and strengthen your immune system? After hiking back, we will venture to Trafalgar twin waterfalls for a short walk (approx. 15 minutes) and another therapeutic swim. Packed lunch is provided.
Champagne Beach
Easy
You will swim through unique underwater volcanic bubbles while you explore the diverse sea-life at Dominica’s premier marine reserve. (Sea horses, turtles and a variety of tropical fish are often sighted!). Another 10 minute drive will take you to Soufriere for a fruit picnic on the beach and for enjoying a relaxing bath in warm bubbles from the underground; volcanic gasses seep through the ocean floor, cooled by the sea’s waves flowing in over a stone wall, creating a perfect soaking temperature.
Dominican Medicinal Herbs and Teas Experience
Optional
Learn about the ancient herbal remedies of the island’s traditional peoples. It is no wonder Dominica has such a high number of centenarians when you realize they live off the organic plants grown in the island’s nutrient rich soil. The fragrant herbs you will encounter during this presentation are grown right in Jungle Bay’s garden. Make your own tea blends during this interactive ‘wellness experience for the senses’ where you get to see, touch, smell, and taste!
Galion Loop Hike
Moderate
This hike starts at Jungle Bay, goes down to the village of Soufriere, and then connects to part of the Waitukubuli Trail (Segment 1). From Soufriere, there is a scenic small track through the bush and local farmlands to a paved road. This road connects the Village of Soufriere and Galion; the mountain village which is home to the talented stonemasons who helped to develop both Jungle Bay as well as the stone walls you will see along the roadside. Keep your eyes open for star fruit, wild cashews, mango, and more. From this scenic village Galion a steeper downhill hike meanders back towards the village of Soufriere. We will be discovering its tucked away natural hot springs in the back of the village of Soufriere. In pre-Columbian times, “sulphuric springs” were a place of mythic geography for the Amerindians and Soufriere was an important meeting place for the Kalinagos from the Caribbean islands.
Heritage Tour on Jungle Bay’s property
Optional
Join us on a walk around the Jungle Bay property. In the late 1800’s Morne Acouma was a famous lime plantation. The limes would be harvested from where the villas now stand, they were placed in buckets, then traveled down pulley systems (in essence a zipline) to the waterfront below in Soufriere Bay, where merchant ships would take the citrus fruits to London, England. Visit the Jungle Bay Garden to discover a wide variety of local ground provisions, tropical fruits (papaya, mango, guava, etc.).
Kayak & Snorkeling Tour
Easy - Moderate
Enjoy paddling & snorkeling (directly from the kayak’s) in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea surrounded by a scenic coastline of mountains and coconut trees.
Caribbean Cooking Class
Learn how to prepare local Caribbean cuisine full of organic vegetables, seasonal fruit, unique spices, eggs, fish, and more. Ingredients sourced directly from the property will almost assuredly be included in the recipes.
Group classes
11 Yoga classes for all levels in one of their two yoga studios (2,500 square feet each) including props (mats, blocks, blankets & straps)
Cuisine
Full board with Caribbean flavours: organic cuisine, seasonal ingredients and the island’s freshest vegetables and fruits.
Transfer
Arrive to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) at any time. Transportation will be provided from the airport to your luxe lodgings perched atop a jungle-clad hill with expansive views over Dominica’s southwest coast.

Instructors
Kristen Barfield
E-RYT 200, YACEP and owner of Blooming Life Yoga Studio located in Zionsville, IN. Kristen knew even before attending her first official yoga class that there was something special about the practice. It was something that she kept looking into and reading about as she raised her family and worked nights as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. Kristen had been active and interested in the more traditional wellness and fitness practices, but knew on a deeper level that she needed something more. After attending her first Hatha Yoga class she knew she was home.
Kristen’s yoga journey has carried her through the mental and physical highs and lows of her life. Yoga truly meets you where you are at everyday. Kristen comes to her mat with gratitude and a sense of wonder of how this practice continues to guide and teach her on and off the mat.
Love. Practice. Growth. Community.
These are the cornerstones of yoga that Kristen brings everyday to her students.
“Do your practice and all is coming.”~ Sri K. Patthabi Jois
