Secluded & amazing hotel Amazing hotel on even more amazing island. We were looking for vacations on less touristic destination - and the long journey to Jardin Tecina makes it worth. The resort is on the cliff, above the sea and we reserve a room with the sea view. I am always skeptical as usually the add to see the sea is not either respected (and I have to fight to get it) or is not worth the paid moneyu2026 but this time it paid off! Amazing view - first row to the sea, with beautiful palm trees. In the evening you hear the sea, breeze and birds. The room was spacious, nicely furnished. Selection of food was great and we enjoyed evenings under starry nights. The hotel is leveled so we have a real exercise to get to the restaurant. But we did not mind, as it was always nice and plenty of free tables in the garden. The staff was professional, but I have to complement one young waiter Diego, who is extremely nice and polite.nWe spent the day time at the Lauren club on the beach, where you van enjoy either in the pool or walk close to the sandy, stony beach - where are you practically aloneu2026 Not to mention that from the hotel there is a lift that take you down to the beach.nWe really enjoy our holidays and I recommend hotel to all who love secluded (although is pretty big!) places.nLa Gonera has charm and it is really place to visit. Jardin Tecina is a hidden gem for beach holidays I had a long trip to reach the hotel, because of the travel connections, flying to Tenerife South and then taking a combination of shuttlebus, ferry and shuttlebus again. Although this made my journey a couple of hours longer than for a Tenerife hotel, I found it most worthwhile.nnThe hotel is designed as a genuine garden (hence the name), which gives a refreshing feeling during the hot summer days. I found the landscape terrifique, with an impressive view from the cliff above the sea, particularly from the walkway built right on the edge in the banana plantation next to the hotel, which you can access with your room key card. Here you can have a breathtaking experience if you like stargazing: during the moonless nights you can easily see the Milky Way with the naked eye, and the hotel organizes free guided stargazing activities once per week. The same guide organizes quite a few other tours, where you can learn a lot about so many things, and is impressive how knowledgeable he is about everything. nnThe food was great and varied. I have a very special diet, having to avoid 2 very common allergens which makes my choices pretty limited, but I was pleased to always be able to find several delicious dishes. Whenever I asked for advice, the staff was very helpful and polite, even preparing special dishes for me a few times. This seems to be ubiquitous at Jardin Tecina: whenever I needed something, it was solved promptly and smiling. I would rate the staff at the reception among the top ones of all hotels in which I have been so far (and I have been in quite a few beach hotels).nnFor swimming, I enjoyed the sea water pool at Club Laurel, which is as close as it gets to an adult pool (there is no official adult pool). I also enjoyed a lot the sport activities, from ping-pong to paddle, squash, beach tennis, darts, mini-golf, petanque and what not... The guys from the animation team that organize them are fantastic and they do so many things, for every age and every taste, from the morning to the evening, including the night shows. nnAll in all, this was a very nice summer vacation and I will definitely return!n Poor service, felt unwelcome, do not recommend for dinner We were staying elsewhere in Playa de Santiago and went to the hotel buffet for evening meal. The food was ok, the place itself was nice looking but it was not welcoming - no greeting on arrival and when we asked someone for a table we were treated curtly with no welcome or explanation of arrangements - and the service was poor.nnOn the night we visited the waiter charged us twice. The internet connection was bad and mistakes happen, not a problem in itself. The waiter was apologetic and asked me to go with him to his supervisor who sent us to reception. No apology from the supervisor and did not even acknowledge that I was standing there. At reception we had to wait to speak to a receptionist who then spoke to the waiter and not to me except to ask card info. Again no apology, baring acknowledged that I was waiting and took another phone call in the middle of trying to refund me. This was all in the middle of the meal. Since I had not finished eating and was missing time with my family I asked if I could return to the table and leave them to sort things out. The waiter came back and said weu2019d been refunded and if it didnu2019t go through to call the next day. No refund appeared and the reception staff at our accommodation had to chase the refund the next day, getting passed from one person to another hanging on the phone for a long time to speak to the accounts office.nnThe next night, our son and his girlfriend visited against our better judgement because they had to miss the first time due to not feeling too well. As young adults not staying at the hotel they were treated with suspicion, repeatedly asked where they were staying, had to pay for each drink and food item before it was served and were generally made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.nnAll in all a poor experience and we wonu2019t be visiting again.
